In my courses I have the following policy on AI.

No use of AI is permitted in the labs. In particular:

• It is not permitted to ask AI for a solution.
• It is not permitted to ask AI for finding a bug in your code.

But, it is permitted to ask AI to:

• explain compiler messages by pasting parts of your source code,
• explain concepts, and
• explain how to install software and similar practical problems.

At least 90 % of the purpose of projects and labs is to have fun, develop your confidence, skills, experience, debugging methods suitable for yourself,
self-insights and thinking process which are all harmed by AI in my opinion.
